A Piece of Autumn in an Envelope

Have I mentioned that I LOVE fall? Well, I do!

I found this delightful fabric months ago and wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it (table cloth, place mats, dinner napkins?) but I took it home anyway. While looking for some inspiration this morning, I peeked into one of my fabric drawers and decided that this fabric will have a purpose beginning today! These cards are full of texture and depth: floral fabric, red thread, red sheer ribbon, festive green brads,  brown tag – all on a cardboard note card. I chose warm cardboard note cards instead of  crisp white note cards because how many autumn leaves are a hospital white? 🙂

I thought about stamping some text onto this tag, but decided to leave it up to you! Just think of the possibilities: “Grandma” “Mom” “Thank You” “Hello” “Smile” “Thinking of You” “Congrats” “Autumn!” “You’re Invited!” These 4 customizable pieces of autumn can be yours today! Check it out at!

In Case You’ve Noticed…

As you may have noticed on my Etsy shop {}, there have been some price changes. As a seller, there are fees for, paypal, the cost of shipping materials and then mailing the item itself.  PiecefulJoy’s prices are competitive compared to many other Etsy sellers. I am going the extra mile and making sure that these quality little masterpieces are carefully shipped in cushiony bubble envelopes.  If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.

On another note, I posted some adorable “Chipper Chirpie Birdie” tags on Etsy. No later than a few hours after posting these cuties, all four of them found an excited owner!

Fall into Autumn with Me

Today my husband and I stopped at a local pumpkin, apple and squash stand. We discovered it last year and fell in love with its apples, gourds, ciders and super prices! For only $4, we adopted 6 lovely pumpkins and 6 unique gourds. This year the quaint stand had white pumpkins! I put these little cuties to work on one of our expedit’s shelves {go to and search for “expedit”; we have the one with 25 shelves.}.

Something else I enjoy about autumn is the yummy food that’s eaten this time of year….such as pumpkin pie…acorn squash with brown sugar…or Emeril Lagasse’s “Hot Buttered Rum.” This recipe can be found on…and I think I’m going to go have some of this yummy drink while I listen to the fall breezes through the open window and work on some more cards for my Etsy shop. Enjoy the recipe!

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • Pinch ground cloves
  • Pinch salt
  • Bottle dark rum
  • Boiling water

In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Refrigerate until almost firm. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture into 12 small mugs. Pour about 3 ounces of rum into each mug (filling about halfway). Top with boiling water (to fill the remaining half), stir well, and serve immediately.

Time to Get to Work!

Earlier this afternoon I was one of many vendors at a small craft fair type event. To my delight, I sold all of my handmade cards!

“Ohh, these cards are lovely! I’m going to get my purse because I want to buy all that’s left.  Do you have anymore?”

I dug into my card making tote and was able to find 8 more cards.  It’s time for me to get to work and make some more paper goodies!

{Some of my gift tags sold, too, by the way!}
